Our History
Lewis B. Maytag, Jr. (Bud Maytag) founded Maytag Aircraft Corporation in 1950 in Colorado Springs. His father, Lewis B. Maytag, was the heir to the fortune of appliance magnate F.L. Maytag, who passed away in 1937. A native of Rochester, Minnesota, Bud attended Colorado College and lived with his family in Colorado Springs, carrying forward a tradition of a family culture, innovation, dedication, and integrity.
From the very beginning, Maytag Aircraft has specialized in aircraft refueling services for the military, along with the maintenance and servicing of fuel systems. Founded before the Defense Logistics Agency (DLA), we have supported the agency’s fuel and airfield operations since its inception, building a legacy of trust, expertise, and mission-focused performance.
Today, Maytag Aircraft is a leading provider of Fuel Services, Air Terminal and Ground Handling Services, and Fuel Maintenance Services across the U.S. Government. We have been awarded over a thousand contracts at DoD installations across the continental United States and on five continents worldwide, earning a reputation for reliability, professionalism, and excellence in the Military Services sector.
